Yesterday afternoon was spent visiting two art galleries, both near the intersection of La Brea & Beverly in Los Angeles. On my way to the first, I noticed a narrow strip of shaded green space lying in between the lot of a gas station and the outside wall of a commercial building. The indirect light made the vibrant yellow of the day lilies blooming there totally pop.

The exhibit of Diego Uchitel's fine art polaroid photography was magnificent. If you have never been to the Fahey/Klein Gallery, it is always well worth a periodic visit. The exhibit changes every month or so. They also always have the work of numerous other notable photographers on display in the side rooms.

The nearby Rutberg is exhibited the paintings and photography of the long estranged Witkin twins. The show is breathtaking. The paintings and charcoal sketches of Jerome Witkin are outstanding, and just have to be viewed in person, in the large format that they were created. The photography of Joel-Peter Witkin is, although a touch too macabre for some, a must experience.
